2019-07-04 Anesthesiology is the medical specialty concerned with the total perioperative care of patients before, during and after surgery. It encompasses anesthesia, intensive care medicine, critical emergency medicine, and pain medicine. A physician (or, in the United States, less frequently a dentist) specialized in this field of medicine is called an anesthesiologist, anaesthesiologist or 2014-09-10 The role of the physician anesthesiologist extends beyond the operating room.
